Supplemental Learning Department

The Keene School District’s Supplemental Learning Department was established in 2021.  The focus of our department is to enhance the school district and SAU’s offerings for students and families.  Our department provides Title I project management inclusive of the READY! for Kindergarten program, Project KEEP administration, and McKinney-Vento services. 

 

Title I funds are provided to eligible districts and schools to provide supplementary educational help to students. Title I staff members are paid through a federal grant and provide small group academic help to students, in addition to core instruction from the classroom teacher.  The Supplemental Learning Manager is the Title I Project Manager for Keene School District and other SAU 29 towns.

READY! for Kindergarten provides workshops and take-home materials and tools, to inspire and empower parents and caregivers to help babies and young children develop strong brain connections that determine how they will think, learn and grow.

 

Parents and caregivers attend a series of workshops each year, based on their child’s age. They learn new skills and helpful tips to nurture development in ways that foster academic skills and personal behaviors to boost children's motivation, perseverance and engagement in learning.

The McKinney-Vento Act, Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program (EHCY) is designed to address the challenges that homeless children and youth have faced in enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school.  The Supplemental Learning Manger acts at the McKinney-Vento Liaison for Keene School District and other SAU 29 towns.

 

Project KEEP is Keene School District’s after school program for students in grades K-5.  The program offers a safe, fun, and enriching after school experience from school dismissal until 5:30PM.
